Prenatal yoga: khalsa way

at Evolation yoga buffalo

Through conscious pregnancy, birthing and early parenting, we set the foundation for life-long health and happiness in a child. Yoga and meditation may be the strongest offering that we can give to pregnant humans. To actively move the body, to find foundation in the breath, to meditate, to go inside where baby is - from this we come to know our own truth.

Khalsa means "pure" in Gurmukhi. This practice was developed by Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa with whom Rebecca trained personally during her own pregnancy in 2012. It is not a modified practice, is appropriate for all stages of pregnancy and levels of practitioner.

For many, prenatal yoga is an entry way into a regular yoga practice and is gentle enough for all bodies. We work very specifically on cultivating and fortifying our own inner tools in preparation for labor and, by extension, our parenting. Our time together offers lots of opportunity to discuss the changes physically and emotionally, manage expectations and help practitioners understand the system they are navigating, their rights as patients to make autonomous choices and the myriad of things not discussed in the office of our providers. This class is a trauma informed, safe and welcoming space to gently support your shifting needs, circumstances and desires around the birth experience.
